About Rega

Back in 1975 Rega introduced the planar 2 turntable featuring the then brand new idea of a plate glass platter ,however Rega turntables differed from the usual offerings in other ways too – rejecting the idea of automation of any kind instead spending the cash where it mattered on the basic engineering of the product which as everybody now knows makes complete sense.

The Planar 3 followed in 1977 offering even better sound quality and when the RB300 tonearm was introduced the combination became the standard at and way above it’s modest asking price.

Nowadays Rega offer a wide range of Turntables, Phono cartridges Amplifiers, CD players and loudspeakers with the entry level Planar One priced at under €300,00 including factory fitted Rega Carbon cartridge.

As Ireland’s original Rega importers Cloney Audio are proud to be associated with Rega for so many years and are in the unique position of knowing more about this famous brand than most. We can attest to how their products are really built to last with very little routine maintenance required, other than stylus, cartridge or belt drive replacement from time to time.

The Rega Aria MM/MC phono stages have been newly redesigned in September 2018 to match the style of Rega’s Fono MM and Fono MC phono stages. Both are designed to be easy to use and still get the most of your vinyl system. The Aria is an all analogue amplifier, meaning there is no digital control circuitry. It includes a self-adjusting servo control to keep the MC input circuit at its best, compensating for any changes in ambient or operating temperature, as well as separate input sockets and input pre-amplifier circuitry.

The Planar 8 was inspired by the Rega turntable, the 'Naiad'. It was developed as an improved version of the 'Naiad' at an affordable price. Advanced materials and engineering solutions were used to ensure you get as much detail from the vinyl surface as possible. The RB880 tonearm and Neo PSU are a standard part of this turntable, which makes it easier than ever to control the speed of the motor. The Planar 8 is also available with either the Ania cartridge or the Apheta 2 cartridge.
